Welcome to the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications. JMC students graduate prepared to excel in the media-related career of their choice. Please take a few minutes to explore our majors in advertising, journalism, public relations and television production.

The JMC department is home to the student media. The 51ÂÒÂ× State News publishes every Friday during fall and spring semesters and is on the web at . 51ÂÒÂ× TV 11 airs several student productions during the fall and spring semesters on the local cable system.

The JMC department is one of only 119 programs in the United States fully-accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (ACEJMC). In May 2010, the department received its most recent six-year reaccreditation. Programs, classes, and majors are reviewed frequently and updated to reflect national academic and professional needs.
