Hopkinsville Couple Donates Truckload of Chemistry Lab Equipment
Donors
Matthew and Brooke Stine
Gift
A large quantity of high-level chemistry laboratory equipment including a spectrometer, generator, vacuum oven, safety cabinet, lab refrigerator, flow table, and more.
Impact
This generous and useful gift was an unexpected but extremely welcome contribution to the Department of Chemistry and its students and faculty. Professional-level laboratory equipment is very expensive to purchase, making the Stinesā gift extremely valuable to the University. Access to good quality, modern lab equipment allows students to gain experience conducting research and experiments, expand their background in how to use different scientific tools and methods, and gain familiarity with industry-standard techniques to help prepare them for their future careers. By adding to the departmentās resources, the Stinesā gift enhances the departmentās ability to attract students to its programs and enables it to devote its financial resources to other priorities.
Inspiration
The Stines wanted this equipment to benefit students, and their positive impression of 51ĀŅĀ× Stateās chemistry program and its faculty made them feel that their donation would enrich the learning experience of many students here in a real and tangible way.
