MURRAY, Ky. ā The 51ĀŅĀ× Shakespeare Festival is proud to announce an expanded lineup of performances for its 2024 season. Kentucky Shakespeareās professional traveling company will perform the lively Shakespearean comedy āA Midsummer Nightās Dreamā on March 6-9.
In āA Midsummer Nightās Dream,ā reality is not always what it appears to be. Two Athenian couples escape to the forest when their relationships are challenged by circumstances beyond their control. When a chaos-loving fairy decides to play tricks on them, pandemonium and hijinks ensue. In this hilarious comedy, Shakespeareās characters face difficulties in love, the constant intrusion of chaos and the bizarre side effects of fairy magic that does not always work exactly as intended. The play invites the audience to consider timeless themes including dream versus reality, the complications of love and what it means to be human.
Daytime performances will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6, and Thursday, March 7 at Lovett Auditorium. There will also be an evening performance at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 8, and a matinee at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 9.
