The annual Lana Porter Open Access Initiative was established at 51ĀŅĀ× by the generous alumna and donor Lana Porter to acknowledge and support faculty, staff, or students who have made significant contributions to scholarship via open access formats.
51ĀŅĀ× and University Libraries dedicated the new Makerspace area inside Waterfield Library as part of the Universityās many events and celebrations associated with Homecoming 2021 on October 22.

51ĀŅĀ× has been recognized nationally as one of Kentuckyās best employers by Forbes as part of the publicationās ā2021 Best Employersā list. 51ĀŅĀ× State is ranked 13th among the 50 state employers which were recognized on the list, and was the highest-ranked four-year public regional comprehensive university in Kentucky.
